Hamamelis Virginiana, beneficios - Witch Hazel, benefits

Sólo quiero daros un pequeño update de cómo está mi piel estos días, pero les cuento por qué?  

I only want to give you an update on how my skin is these days, I explain why? 

 

Hamamelis Virginiana / Witch Hazel

Desde que volví de vacaciones de verano mi piel se volvió loca y tenía un brote acnéico que hasta incluso me salieron granitos en las mejillas y la frente, cuando se supone que lo normal es que me salgan sólo en la barbilla, vaya que era un desastre… peeeero he descubierto una planta maravillosa!!!

Since I got back from my summer holydays my skin went crazy and I got a horrible breakout even on my cheeks and forehead where normally I won’t have any… buuuut I´ve just discovered a wonderfull plant!!!

 

Sorprendentemente estos días se ve más limpia!!! No sé decir que ha pasado pero hace 2 semanas cuando fui a Bcn aproveché para hacerme una limpieza, con vapor obviamente, que me dolió aunque nada fuera de lo normal, pero me dejaron la piel limpita y la verdad me hizo súper bien. Desde luego creo que tienen mucho que ver los productos que he estado usando últimamente y también el hecho de que ahora hace frío. 

Surprisingly these days my skin looks cleaner and better!!! I am not sure what happened but 2 weeks ago when I went to Bcn I had a facial with steam of course, that hurt as normal but left my skin very clean and honestly I’ve noticed an improvement. Obviously the products I’ve been using have also something to do with that as well as the cold weather we have here now. 

Lo que creo que ha marcado la diferencia es lo siguiente, hace 2 meses me compré una agüita que es 100% destilado de Witch hazel o Hamamelis Virginiana en el Boots, esta planta como he mencionado en otras ocasiones es anti bacterial y anti inflamatoria este producto lo vendían en la zona de farmacia para desinfectar heridas, picaduras, etc. Ya me había fijado hace tiempo que muchos productos antiacnéicos contienen esta planta, pero a saber en qué concentración… así que decidí comprarlo y lo he usado de dos formas:

What I really think has made the difference is this, 2 months ago I bought a bottle of 100% distilled witch hazel in Boots for £2.99, this plant as I mentioned previously is antibacterial and anti swelling, it is aimed for healing scars and bites. I had noticed before that many products contain this plant but in what concentration no one knows… so I decided to buy it, I´ve been using in two ways:

• La primera, lo uso para hacerme mascarillas de arcilla, que son buenísimas para controlar la producción de aceites en la piel, ésta me la regaló Carolina de un bote gigante que tiene en casa y definitivamente me la compraré. Normalmente se mezcla la arcilla en polvo con agua o con alguna agua-extracto de plantas y cuando hice el cursillo de limpiezas faciales me enseñaron que según el tipo de piel se puede mezclar la arcilla con diferentes cosas, en el caso de pieles grasas lo mejor es Hamamelis o agua de flores de naranja, en fin que me comencé hacer mis mascarillas hace 2 meses una vez por semana. Se nota que la piel se seca pero no de mala manera sino que al día siguiente casi ni un brillo en la cara, es increíble nunca me había hecho mascarillas de arcilla en casa y me encanta! Creo que en verano se podría hacer incluso 2 veces por semana.

• First one, I use it to prepare clay masks that I apply after exfoliating my skin once a week, this mask is very good for oil control, it was a present form Carolina because she has a big jar and I definitely will buy it. Normally clay masks are mixed with water or an extract from plants so when I did that course about facial treatments they said that witch hazel water is good for oily skins, also orange flower water. I started applying this mask 2 months ago and you can notice how the skin dries but not in a bad way, the next day you notice how the skin is not oily at all, it´s great! It might be good to try twice a week during summer.

• La segunda, el mes pasado decidí mezclar un tónico que tengo de Clarins para pieles mixtas que había parado por una temporada con ¼ de Hammamelis y lo uso por las mañanas y por las noches luego de lavarme la cara.

• Second one, Last month I decided to mix it with a toner from Clarins for combo skin that I stopped using for a while, so I can finish it now. I mixed ¼ of witch hazel in the bottle and use it at mornings and nights after washing my face.

Os explico la rutina que he seguido durante Octubre en plan SOS. He usado el tónico de Clarins mezclado con Hamamelis V., la hidratante de The body Shop con tea tree que ha sido maravillosa en cuanto a control de grasa y además es antibacterial. También me he exfoliado la cara 2 veces por semana con mi scrub en lugar de alternar con el tónico de AHA, y he sentido la piel más suave y lisa. Y luego por la noche he aplicado el serum Biomedic en toda la mejilla porque evidentemente el ácido glicólico es exfoliante así que pensé que me ayudaría a evitar que se tapen los poros al mismo tiempo que aclarar las marcas que tengo. 

The routine I´ve followed during October as an emergency is the Clarins toner and Witch hazel mix, The Body Shop tea tree moisturizer which is great to control oil. Then I´ve been exfoliating my face twice a week with the scrub instead of alternate with the AHA toner, I have to say I feel the skin softer and more even. At the night I´ve been using Biomedic in almost my whole face as the glycolic acid is an exfoliating agent so my pores do not get clogged plus it helps to improve the little red scars.

Como veis ha sido quizás un tratamiento de choque pero ha funcionado, en estos días será cuando comprobaré si de verdad funciona o no… ya que son esos días del mes en que las hormonas se vuelven locas y lo agravan todo, de momento sólo un granito nada escandaloso, a ver qué pasa…

As you see it might be an intensive treatment but I think it worked, these days I´ll confirm if it is effective as are those days of the month when my hormones get crazy and get my skin worse, at the moment only one pimple nothing too obvious, let´s see…
